Vijay B Gonahalu
Vijay B Gonahalu, was born into a family of musicians on 22nd September, 1977. He was fortunate to receive intense vocal music training from his father, Pt.BasavarajGonahalu, a well-known vocalist and AIR artist.
Vijay, subsequent to his receiving vocal training from his father showed interest in Sitar and started training under Ustd.Rafeeq Khan Nadaf.
It was in 1999, that fortune smiled on him when PadmabushanPt. Arvind Parikh, the well-known Sitar maestro and a disciple of UstadVilayat Khan Saheb accepted him as his student. After that, a close “guru-shishya” relationship developed between the two and Vijay has been an ardent follower and a disciple of Pt. Arvind Parikh since then.
Vijay represents the Imvadkhani/Etawah, also called the VilayatKhaniGharana.
Vijay has completed his Master Degree of Performing Arts from Maharaja Sayajirao University, Baroda. He has actively teaching Sitar in Bangalore for the past 10 years.

Performances in India:
Baroda, Surat, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Hissar, Jodhpur, Jabalpur and regularly performs in Bangalore. He has also performed on All India Radio and many times on regional Television Channels.
Vijay presently teaches Sitar in Bangalore and lectures at IndiranagarSangeetha Sabha, Bangalore. Vijay has been enabling his students to reach their potential in their musical journey. One of his student has won the AIR music contest, a first for Bangalore.
