Bimba Raghavendra
Bimba Raghavendra is an acclaimed classical musician and a Veena exponent from Bangalore, in the Carnatic music genre. She is a performer, teacher and administrator. She has trained under Dr Suma Sudhindra, an acclaimed Veena artist in the country, for the past 40 years. Bimba is a Veena teacher/ coach/ mentor for many musical institutes across Bangalore with the most notable institute being Dr Suma Sudhindra’s Tarangini Institute where she has been teaching for over 40 years. In addition she also delivers online classes via Skype to her international students. Bimba has also performed at many prestigious events in India and abroad. When she is not teaching, she is either performing or managing back stage for many musical performances.
Some of her notable performances in India includes the prestigious Thyagaraja Aradhana in Thiruvaiyaru, Hampi Utsava in Hampi, Mahamastaka Kumba Abhisheka in Sharavabelagola, Mahaganapathy Yakshagana Mandali in Idagunji North Kanara, Purandara Aradhane in Mulbagilu, International Society of ISKCON and Bangalore Habba in Bangalore, Sankranti Samaramba in Mandya and Savira Kumba Basti in Mudabidre and many more.
Bimba is also renowned for her Multi-Veena performances. She has participated and lead many performances involving multiple Veenas’ like the 900, 1000 & 2000 Veena performance at Ravi Shankar Guruji Ashram, 80 & 75 Veena performances at Rama Seva Mandali, 50 Veena performance at Bangalore International Festival, 15 Veena performance at Malleshwaram Seva Sadhana and many more
Bimba has also performed in many prestigious events in and around Bangalore including 2 times at Chitrakala Parishat, 2 times at Ravindra Kalakhsetra, 2 times at National College and many more.
Apart from this, Bimba has also performed in London and Phoenix multiple times during her career.
All in all, Bimba has had a long a versatile career in the Carnatic music space.
Bhumika Phanindra
Grand daughter of Smt.Bimba Raghavendra
Bhumika Phanindra is grand daughter of Smt. Bimba Raghavendra. A well known, renowned Veena Artist in Bengaluru. Bhumika has been pursuing Bharthanatyam since the age of 7 years under the tutelage Guru Niveditha Mallya at Sampradhya School of Dance in Chandler, Arizona, USA. She had performed many various places in Arizona and she completed her Arangetram in 2017 at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall in Bengaluru. Aside of her dance she was a National Volleyball Player. She was a school and club captain and her consistent play fetched her a Player of the Year in 2016 and 3 “All Arizona” 1st team selections at AZCCA National Qualifier Tournaments. She was also active participant for all 4 years various after Basis high school programs and she holds key office positions A Secretary of Key Club and she was also the Vice President of LITAS, a STEM program for girls. She was also member of Red Cross. Now, she is pursuing her Neuroscience and Cognitive Science Medical degree at The University of Arizona.
Tarang Phanindra
Grand Son of Smt.Bimba Raghavendra
Tarang Phanindra is grandson of Smt. Bimba Raghavendra, a renowned veena artist in Bengaluru. Tarang has been learning veena from his grandmother Smt. Bimba Raghavendra through Skype since the age of 13 years. He is in 11th grade at Basis Chandler, Arizona. He has performed at various places in Arizona with his grandmother. Aside from his passion for art form Tarang plays high school basketball and volleyball. He is the captain of the volleyball team. He also plays competitive basketball and is 2 times state champion. Tarang is the public relations officer for Red Cross of Arizona at Basis Chandler. Tarang along with 3 of his friends work on 3D printing of prosthetic hands that helps thousands of people in third world countries. They build about 100 hands a year.
Saatvik Vivek
Grand Son of Smt.Bimba Raghavendra
Saatvik Vivek is grandson of Smt. Bimba Raghavendra, a renowned veena artist in Bengaluru. Saatvik has been learning veena from his grandmother Smt. Bimba Raghavendra since the age of 5 years. He is in 4th grade at Orchids International School, Bangalore. His first stage performance was at the age of 5 yrs 6 months. Since then he has given 15 stage performance at various events across Bangalore along with his grandmother. He has also given 3 solo performance at Bangalore. The highlight of Saatvik’s learning journey which includes his first Doordarshan TV Show performance ever.. Now Saatvik is also perusing Vocal classes twice a week and continues his musical journey. Aside from his passion for art form Saatvik plays basketball and football coached by reputed trainers. Saatvik has shown great interest in Robotics Technology which is part of his academics. Robotics is a branch of technology that deals with the making, programming, and designing of robots. Good Luck…
