Guitar
M.R.Shivakumar
Myself, M.R.Shivakumar have been exploring various techniques and practices concerning with
guitar education and teaching since 15years as I have a passion for teaching. I‘ve completed my
diploma in music from “London School Of Music”.
My achievements are directly connected to my complements. I‘ve been involved with few music
composers and singers to keep up my phase of learning. I ‘ve played in many orchestras and Music
Bands as Rhythm player and also as a Solo player. There are many complements of appreciation
from both the arrangers and audiences. I also received few awards as a token of appreciation from
well know artists.
My way of teaching is always one-to one.Giving guitar students a better knowledge like adding
Chords to solo playing and focusing on phrasing and tone production and also teaching them to read
Musical notations, much more than playing“sounds".Teaching Guitar is always two-sided. Some are
able to play, for some it may be difficult,as it works from memory. For some, they have a very poor
sense of playing as per “timing". So building up students by Knowing each students capability and
training up to all-around musicianship is my main aim.

I started my guitar lessons at the age of 16, under the guidance of Mr M. R.Shivakumar. “Music begins where words stop”. My entry into this colossal world of music as a guitarist helped me in scaling my own personality and aided me to evolve into a better person. It, being greatly influential on my persona, brought in self confidence, clarity of thought, expression of emotions and introduced me to a parallel universe of performing arts. My Guru’s methodical way of teaching guitar along with careful observation of renowned guitarists motivated me towards understanding and practicing music realising its immense beauty and aesthetics. Dedication, Diligence and Determination being the 3 D’s of music, have taught me the importance of each class. It also abetted me to not only comprehend music as a whole but also appreciate those intricate nuances which embellish performance. This paved way to perform in shows of Public music TV, a few events in the college and in my previous guitar classes. By Profession, I am an Engineer, pursuing industrial training at the Biotech start-up theraCUES Innovations Private Limited. Art has always been my forte and I enjoy sketching, miniature art and various other forms. I am profusely gratuitous to my parents Mrs Jayashree and Mr Sanjeeva, whose encouragement and immense support guided me in the right direction of pursuit of excellence.
There were many ups and downs, smiles and frowns in the due course which led to me witness the brighter and harsher side of life, driving me to learn and train the tyros to the best of my abilities. Personally, I rely on RELEVANCE and MEANING while teaching, which could become a pathway to someone with
great zeal as I believe that
“in learning you will teach and teaching you will learn”
